Keeping The Home Fires Burning

This year's community concert was organised by Elsa Williams and Wendy Burrows and marked the 70th anniversary of the Home Front during World War II. There were scenes featuring the Home Guard, the Land Girls and women's war efforts in munition factories, the evacuees and contemporary wireless broadcasts. There were, of course, opportunities for the audience to join in many of the popular songs of the 1940s. There was also an exhibition of war time memorabilia, photographs and posters, as well as individual experiences and memories.
